Mood Board

 Mood Board

Hello everyone, and welcome back to Jacquelle's blog! For my film, I've opted to make a horror thriller. "It" will be my primary source of inspiration. What I enjoy about the movie is the realism of the clothes, particularly Pennywise's. The makeup utilized to change the actor into the character is really lifelike. When comparing photos of Bill Skarsgard, you can see that special effects makeup is applied to push back his forehead and make it appear as if he doesn't have any eyebrows. I haven't decided what the entire plot will be about, but I have a few ideas. These Ideas include a group teenager who goes missing or a weird creature following kids (similar to IT).

Forever and always: Blog entry #4 ~ Movie review 🎥🍿

Forever and always: Blog entry #4 ~ Movie review 🎥🍿

The film I chose to review the the camera movements and angles was To All the Boys: Always and forever. A quick synopsis of this movie, "Senior year of high school takes center stage as Lara Jean returns from a family trip to Korea and considers her college plans -- with and without Peter." I have been a fan of the movie franchise but I have yet to read the books.

To begin, the director will employ an Establishing shot to show the location of a scene or the character composition. This image displays the film's initial shot. This scene makes the audience delighted and excited for Laura Jean as she visits Seoul, South Korea's capital. It also provides the viewer with information about the characters' surroundings and aids the viewer in understanding the story's plot.

The filmmaker uses camera panning to follow the subject throughout the duration of the exposure. Panning allows the audience to feel as if they are a part of the story or film. As the camera moves from right to left as the family bikes, the sight generates feelings of happiness and excitement in the reader.

The director employs an over-the-shoulder camera perspective to show Peter telling Lara Jean that they will always be together no matter how far apart they are. This elicits feelings of love since it demonstrates Peter's undying love for Lara Jean and demonstrates that no matter how far apart they are, they will always love one other. The over-the-shoulder angle allows the reader to see Peter's reaction when he professes his love for Laura Jean.

Finally, the director employs a static shot to keep the camera in the frame while displaying the actors in the film. Lara Jean is imagining her future with Peter in the scenario, but she is pulled back to reality when she realizes she will not be attending college with him. Without context, this scenario produces a sense of delight in the viewer, but when viewed in context, it evokes a sense of melancholy since it depicts Lara Jean's realization that her relationship with Peter may come to an end.

Analyzing the camera movements taught me that camera movements and images can give more meaning to a scene. As a viewer, I am unaware of the camera movements and why the directors include them in the picture. While watching the films, I observed that the camera movements correspond to what is happening in the scene and elicit a response in the viewer.

Peer review

 Peer review

Hello everyone, and welcome back to Jacquelle's blog. We were told today to read other students' blogs and leave comments on them. Sarah Sanabria's and Desiree Haghgoo's student blogs stuck out to me in particular.

Sarah Sanabria~ To begin with, despite the lack of conversation, the individual in the video conveys a sense of melancholy as she drops her head and places her palm on her head in the overhead shot. The acting in this video was fantastic because, despite the absence of speech, the actors' actions elicited an emotion in the viewer.  I should also mention that the overall design of the blog is fantastic!

Desiree Haghgoo~ I think she did an excellent job with her videos. What I liked most about her videos was her use of dialogue. For this reason, I think she did a better job than I did. My videos were devoid of conversation, but her use of dialogue helped to create a story. For example, in the Point of View shot, the people in the video glance down and ask, "What is that?" It almost appears as if they are disgusted with me (the viewer).

I loved seeing all of my colleagues' videos.  It gave me some ideas for improving my videos. I believe that the major thing I need to improve on is including more dialogue in my videos.  Normally in films, dialogue is used to convey a story. There wasn't much of a story being presented in my videos because it lacked dialogue. On future assignments, I will undoubtedly improve on this.

Camera Shots

Camera Shots
Welcome back to Jacquelle's Journal, and today I applied what I learned to create five distinct videos utilizing five different camera perspectives. It was an interesting experience because it was my first time filming, but I believe I did a decent job.

Shot #1~ POV (Point of view)
Purpose of the shot~ The POV shot is employed to allow the viewer to experience the world through the eyes of the character. The rain hitting the glasses in the film enables the viewer to see what the individual in the video is going through. Because of the melancholy atmosphere it generates, the rain creates a sensation of gloom. It almost looks as if the person in the video is crying.

Shot #2~ Low shot
Purpose of the shot~ The purpose of the low shot is to make the subject look strong. The low shot conveys a sense of loneliness since the character in the video is heading up the stairs alone as a group of teenagers walks on the opposite side of the stairs.

Shot #3~ POV (Point of view)
Purpose of the shot~ The POV shot allows the viewer to see the world through the character's eyes. In the video, the lady looks to be appreciating the flowers and her surroundings. This produces a sense of euphoria.

Shot #4~ High angle shot
Purpose of the shot~ The objective of the high angle view is to make the person in the video appear smaller. As the person in the video walks along the path with her head down, the high shot gives a sense of loneliness.

Shot #5~ Extreme close up

Purpose of the shot~ The Purpose of an Extreme Close-up picture is to focus on a certain item. An extreme close-up of the individual's eye is shown in this video. This allows you to view what the person sees via their eyes.

Introduction

 Introduction

Welcome to Jacquelle's Journal. Today's topic is ME. My name is Jacquelle Jean Jacques and I’m a sophomore at Everglades High school.  I've been playing tennis for a little over a year. (Not a member of the Everglades team.) I'm the President of the Class of 2024 and a member of SGA. During my spare time, I enjoy shopping and bike riding. I haven't decided what I want to be when I grow up, but I'm leaning towards studying law.

An overachiever is perhaps the best word to describe me. I feel like that word has such a negative connotation, but I believe that being an overachiever means that you are determined, hardworking, and ambitious. (I feel that I possess all of these characteristics. 😅😂)

My favorite Movie franchise is Marvel. My favorite movie is probably 10 things I hate about you.  I am perhaps the greatest rom-com fan you will ever meet, thus I enjoy Crazy Rich Asians, Enchanted, 13 Going on 30, and again 10 Things I hate about you. My favorite shows are definitely Boy Meets World, A Series of Unfortunate Events, or Young and Hungry. (I can't decide which one is my absolute favorite)

I chose to take Aice media studies because one this was the only Aice class that was Available and two because I have always been fascinated by how sounds and camera angles can elicit a specific emotion in the viewer.  So far, I'm enjoying how engaging this class is.
