Editing post 2

Editing post 2

Hello and welcome back to Jacquelle's journal. Today was my second day of editing, and it went much better than the first day. I was able to almost finish editing because I am more familiar with both applications. The only thing that I still had to edit was the transition from the opening scene to the second scene.  I edited my first scene today. The most difficult element of editing was undoubtedly the dialogue between the friends, as I had to ensure that the conversation corresponded to the video. It took about two hours to film because I was working alone and didn't have any support. I'm quite pleased with how my opening scene turned out. It began as a vision, and now, months of planning and days of editing later, my opening sequence is complete! Thank you so much for joining me on this voyage, which I've been planning since August!

Editing Post 1

Editing Post 1

Hello and welcome back to Jacquelle’s Journal. So today I began to edit my opening scene. I used iMovie as well as motion pictures to edit my opening scene. In the beginning, it was very difficult to use I movie as the sound kept overlapping. For this reason, I also used motion pictures to edit the lighting as well as the sound. While editing I wanted to include non-diegetic sounds of police sirens to foreshadow the arrest of Jacob. While this is not shown during the opening scene I wanted to give the viewer a clue as to what may happen next. I found the recording of the police sirens on YouTube. A problem that occurred while editing is that my IPad kept crashing while I was attempting to edit. For this reason, I had to use both my phone as well as my computer to edit the film instead. I have only edited the second scene as I have yet to film the initial scene but once I do I will begin to edit it. Thank you so much for reading and make sure to tune in for an update on the process of editing.

First Day of Shooting

 First Day of Shooting

The day finally came when I was able to begin filming. This honestly feels like a huge weight lifted on my shoulders as I have been struggling to start filming with the actors as they are always busy. As previously stated I ordered a picnic basket and fake knife to add to the realism of the opening scene. It honestly feels so surreal that I was able to turn my vision into a reality. Each scene was about thirty seconds long and I was able to film three scenes so I am partly done with my opening scene it is just the initial scene that I have yet to complete. The hardest part was mainly my tripod as the remote for the tripod would not zoom in. Also instead of using a duffle bag, I used a black garbage bag as it was easier to dispose of if in the scene. Also, I was not planning on keeping any of the props used in the opening scene so I didn't think that it made sense to keep it. I began filming at approximately 5: 45 and stopped at around 7:00. This filming day was unsuccessful as both actors arrived late which caused us to begin to film late. This only gave the actors approxiemntally half an hour to film as the sun was going to set. Hopefully, we are more successful the next time filming and the actors arrive on time.

Title Sequence

Title Sequence

Welcome back to Jacquelle's Journal. Despite the fact that it wasn't an assignment, I took the initiative to create my film's title sequence. I had a lot of trouble figuring out how to make blood trickle, but I'm extremely pleased with the end result. I like how the words start off white and then become red to represent the terrible murder. My title sequence was created with Alight Motion and took roughly two days to complete. The most difficult aspect was changing the color because I couldn't just change the word date. It took some time to figure out how to use the program properly because it was my first time, but I think it turned out well!

Main Character analysis

Main Character analysis

Click the 'S' Cartoon Characters Quiz - By ddd62291

Hello everyone, and thank you for reading my most recent blog post. I wanted to include all of the most well-known major characters, as well as my own favorites, but today I'm going to break down all of my film's main characters.

Jacob: Jacob suffers from Dissociative Identity Disorder as a result of his attempt to be someone else on the dating app, as many of you may have predicted. His dating app personality is one of his many other personalities, almost as if he has multiple individuals living in his head. Jacob also has schizophrenia, which causes him to hear and see things that aren't actually there. This forces him to commit the awful deeds he does. I couldn't find somebody to play Jacob as I imagined him to be fairly tall and tower over Raquel. As a result, I was obliged to cast a buddy of mine who is about the same height as Raquel's actor, although I'll most likely show the dread with low angle shots.

Raquel: I picture Raquel as a young adult suffering from despair, which is why she started using dating apps to meet more people and create the illusion that she is someone else. The main reason I opted to have the main character suffer from such a severe mental condition is that when someone is going through a lot, they tend to miss a lot of important things, such as strange text messages. I'm currently considering whether or not to show text messages between the "couple" to highlight how she's pretending to be someone else for Jacob and how manipulative Jacob is by seducing Raquel. I believe that including the text messages will add reality to the story because this is a true problem that many people face on a daily basis.

Camille: Camille is a young woman with an older demeanor. She is mature and intelligent for her age, and as a result, she can understand that Jacob is a liar. She is aware that her friend is in danger, but she is powerless to intervene because she knows how stubborn her friend is. Camille will be the only sensible character in the film because she is the only logical thinker among the other characters.

Preparing to film

 Preparing to film

So the time has finally come when I am supposed to start filming. I am having a lot of trouble finding time to feel as I am very busy with extracurricular activities and so are the other actors. But so far I have a plan for everything involving the film.

Actors: The three main actors in my film will be Oriette Mesika who will be playing Raquel, Jacquelle Jean Jacques who is me, and I will be playing Camille and Ishaan Nair who will be playing Jacob.

Costumes: I intend to create a style that corresponds to the personality of each of the characters. I want Raquel to look incredibly stylish, not just to show how important her looks is to her, but also to show her innocence in comparison to Camille, who is more sensible. I'd like Camille to have a retro style. Her older attitude and how much more common sense she possesses are reflected in the antique aesthetic. However, I want Jacob to wear a suit to show how serious he was. Because suits are often linked with being dominated, the suit will assist express the tone by expressing how serious and conscious he is of what he is doing, as well as that he has no shame or regret.

props:  The main prop for the first scene will most likely be a magazine, as Camille is glancing through it while Raquel is getting ready, implying that she doesn't believe in this connection and hence isn't paying attention to it. A picnic basket and blanket, a knife, and a duffle bag will be utilized as props in the park scene. The picnic basket will be used for the date since they are having a picnic date. Raquel will be killed with the knife. The knife, of course, will be a ruse that will only be used for a few seconds. Jacob will use the duffel bag to dispose of Raquel's body in the final scene.

locations: I intend to shoot in both my house and Miramar Regional Park. I'm still debating whether or not I want to shoot at Miramar Regional Park because I could shoot in my own backyard, but the fence to my pool might appear in the background. Also, because someone else is less likely to commit murder in a residential area, I must evaluate these factors.

dates and times:  I'll probably start filming in the beginning of March, and we'll start filming in the evening because the main setting will be at night.

scripts:  I just need to finish a few touch-ups on the screenplay because I'm having problems writing the dialogue between Jacob and Raquel. I'm having problems because I don't want the dialogue to sound forced; instead, I want it to feel natural and less like a movie than real life, because this is a REAL ISSUE.

Film equipment:  I've decided to film on my iPhone 11 because I can't get a hold of a real camera, although I did purchase a tripod on Amazon to record the scenes in which I'll be acting. I'm also thinking about purchasing a mic pack for each of the actors to boost their volume.

Costuming

 Costuming

Costuming with Key Costumer, Javier Arrieta – SyncOnSet

Hello and welcome back to Jacquelle's Journal. Today's topic will be my film's costuming. Because the initial scenario will be a bedroom, I'd like the primary female characters to be dressed in pajamas or other comfy attire as they get ready. Raquel, the primary character, would most likely be dressed in a robe as she prepares for the date with her buddy Camille, who is watching her friend prepare for the date. I envision Jacob, the male protagonist, wearing a suit for the length of the film. To show that this isn't his first time, that he's already killed someone, and that he's already plotting his next murder. In a manner, I want Raquel to have a y2k and chic style, while Camille's style is more vintage, in a way that is somewhat opposing. I'd like Jacob to dress in a business casual style because he knows what he's doing and is prepared. Raquel's style reflects her personality because it suggests that she is ignorant and does not think things through. Camille's style will reflect her personality since it demonstrates how wise she is and how much more common sense she possesses when compared to Raquel, who has a more mature style.

Raquel:

This is what I had in mind for Raquel's attire. She'll dress in a way that's reminiscent of the year 2000. I want her to look very stylish, not just to demonstrate how much she values her appearances, but also to demonstrate her naivety in comparison to Camille, who thinks more logically. I'd like to demonstrate how self-centered she is and how she perceives the world around her.

Camille:

In comparison to Raquel, I'd like Camille to have a more vintage style to reflect her logicality and knowledge. In comparison to Raquel, the antique aesthetic reflects her older attitude and how much more common sense she possesses. Also, to demonstrate how smart she is and how she over-analyzes everything.

Jacob:

Regarding Jacob, I want him to spend the entire movie dressed in a suit. My goal for Jacob's first scene is for him to fetch the weapons, thus I believe the suit will help express the tone by depicting how serious and conscious he is of what he is doing, and that he has no guilt or regret, as suits are typically associated with being overpowering.

I'm going to try not to buy anything, so I'll either use some of my own clothes or have the actors bring their own. Thank you so much for reading, and I hope you'll return to read the next blog post for the latest filming news!
